Small Group and Volunteer Sign Up Day
On Sunday 5th February you will have to opportunity to confirm your small group attendance or join a new group. Please take the time to check that your name is connected to the group you wish to attend.
While you are joining a small group please prayerfully consider where you can volunteeer to help the church community.

New Small Group Starting Up
I would like to start a new small group this year for people who would like to better understand the foundations of the Bible. By this, I mean studying especially the first five books of the Bible and tracing the stories, images and ideas we find in these books through the rest of the Bible. This will take some commitment on the part of those in this group, probably 3 or 4 hours of reading as preparation each week.
The focus will be on asking questions, exploring the text and comparing stories, rather than simply giving out standard answers to standard questions. You will be invited to struggle with the text to see how God has revealed Himself in history as well as today.
Meeting times and venues are totally flexible at the moment, depending on people and availability.

The Calling Committee would like to invite the Congregation to lunch with Jim and Anita De Witte after the morning service on Sunday 5th February. Jim is currently serving as the Minister of the Dandenong CRC but is actively seeking a call to another Church.The Calling Committee have have invited Jim and Anita to Redlands CRC on the weekend of the 4-5 February, during this time they will meet with various church ministries and members of the congregation.This lunch is part of the calling process and will provide an opportunity for the congregation to meet Jim and Anita and for Jim and Anita to get to know us a bit better.

5pm service: Jesus, Hope of the World
The question of who Jesus is and what he came to do is not only a question that is around today, but has been around from the day he was born. It was a question that Matthew was attempting to answer in his gospel. He quotes from the book of Isaiah to show that one aspect of Jesus’ life and ministry was to bring hope to those who have been bruised or hurt by life. He brings us that hope, and we follow in his steps as those who bring that hope to a hurting world around us.

In the uncertain times that we are living in, it is easy to forget who is in charge and that He has a plan. It is even easy to forget the many ways He has poured out blessings upon us. The Apostle Paul begins his letter to the Ephesians reminding the Church about the amazing things God has done already in this world, even before it was created. He then looks to the future and speaks of God's promise and seal of an eternal inheritance that is awaiting believers. Come along this Sunday morning as we delve into the first chapter of the book of Ephesians.

Sewing Machines for Burma
Repairing and sewing clothes and school uniforms is almost a daily task at the orphanage in Burma.
However, the second hand sewing machines we have brought in over the last 8 years are starting to
become very unreliable.
If there is anyone who has a sewing machine or overlocker in good working order that they are no longer using,
and they would like to donate it to the orphanage, it would be hugely appreciated.
Alternately, if anyone would like to donate towards purchasing one, that would also be fabulous.

At the slight risk of offence, it can be said that most Aussies are 'ordinary' people who have 'ordinary' jobs and 'ordinary' families. When it comes to religion - and in particular a religious celebration of Christmas - many people say: 'well, what has it got to do with me?' Doesn't religion belong to a time and date in history when it was relevant for a very different society than us? Others say: 'yes, we should hold on to our religious roots, as it is part of our heritage, but honestly, it has little bearing on how we live our lives'. This morning we will learn from some very ordinary people who came to see the true relevance of Christmas for their lives.

National Youth Convention
Thy Kingdom – Prayer support
The 2012 Thy Kingdom Youth convention is starting only a matter of days from now. On 3 January 2012 around 300 young people from all around the CRCA and beyond will descend on Miginbil Hill, just outside of Uki, Northern NSW. Most of the planning is falling into place, and what hasn’t yet, we hope will soon. But aware of Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain,” – we know that our best planning will be worth nothing unless God’s blessing rests on it. And so we are asking our churches to pray. More than anything else, we need your prayers.
Please pray that:
- God’s Spirit would move powerfully as we explore God’s Word together
- Jesus would be seen clearly, and that the convention would be characterized by a hungering to know him better
- the Conventioneers will enjoy the time together in safety
- the unseasonably wet weather that is forecast for the area would be held at bay

9am service: God can do it!
Recently I had a conversation with someone about evangelism. We mused on the great need of teaching Christian children how to evangelise. In the course of our conversation it felt almost as if we have lost sight of God's ability and eagerness to show himself to people who don't know him. It's almost like we don't expect or anticipate to see God bringing people to faith - it's an aspect of the kingdom of God that seems to have gone off the radar for many Christians. Why is that, we wondered? Is it because we live in a world where God is less active? Is it that our world is so far removed from God that we see fewer and fewer people turning to him? Can he really show himself to people around us whom we just cannot see coming to faith? This morning we will see how the story of three characters we usually meet in a nativity set has some great truths to tell us about the questions above.

The birth of a baby is always a moving event. We can't help but be overawed when we see new life come about. As we are entering the festive season, we stop and recognize a very special birth, that of Jesus Christ. Right from the beginning we see that this was no ordinary birth - no ordinary conception, no ordinary parents. He was truly something special. For the next few Sundays, we'll look at some of the amazing events and truths surrounding the birth of this man, Jesus Christ.

Kids@Church Celebration
Hello Parents,
This Sunday (4th of December) is our last K@C for the year, so we are CELEBRATING. All the children will be getting a certificate for their completion of the Children Desiring God Program. The year 6 & 7 children will be graduating from K@C this year so we will be celebrating their completion of K@C as well. There will be a lot of fun on the morning. It will be great to see all the children celebrating this day with us.
