Sunday 5pm - HSM service
We are living in what many would call: the age of information. We have more access to information than any generation before us ever had. We also receive more and arguably better education than many generations before us ever had. This may lead some to conclude that right now humanity is in many ways the most informed and best educated than what we ever were. But are we wise? What is wisdom? In this service we will discover that there are differences between being well informed, well educated and beinig wise. We will discover from the Bible what wisdom is and how to live wisely on earth.
Preacher: Ettiene de Wilzem
Sunday 9am
God wants us to grow - we all know that. Most of the time we think in terms of growing in understanding of God and his love in Jesus. That's great - but what about growing in following Jesus? Attitudes? Behaviour? Bad habits? How do I know whether I am making progress? Sunday AM Dave will open up the Bible so we can see the sort of growth God wants to see in us, and we'll also come away with a few tools to help us assess whether we're growing in the best way. Read ahead Eph 4:17 - 5:2
Preacher: Dave Groenenboom.

A few things pastoral...
Margaret Vanden Akker would love to come to RCRC on Sunday mornings, but at this stage cannot drive herself. Is there someone who could bless Margaret with a lift on Sunday mornings? If you can assist, please call or email Margaret Nugent at RCRC (3286 4700)
After Tuesday's senseless arson attack on the Cleveland Ambulance Station, RCRC provided coffee and cheesecake for all Ambulance, Police, and Fire Service personnel as they worked through the site on Wednesday morning. It was great to be able to serve these people who give so much to our community
Prayer Diary
- The Cleveland Ambulance Station was subject to arson attack very early Wednesday morning. Pray that emergency services will not be impacted in this area, and that the station can be repaired/rebuilt with minimal delay
- Remember those with health issues: Margaret Vanden Akker; Mark Nugent; Bev Bird; Milla Allaway - give thanks for recovery and answered prayers
For prayer
The procedure to reduce Mark Nugent's pain seems to have been a great success. We thank God for the doctor's skill.
Sunday 5pm
This Sunday night we have the enormous privilege of celebrating God's work as 3 young people (Claudette Ogilvie, Isaac Rooskov and Mark Flynn) profess their faith in, and love for, Jesus. It's a great opportunity to hear how God has worked in their lives to bring them to faith, to witness their public commitment and to honour God for his faithfulness and love. Some come along, bring your family , friends, kids, neighbours to hear real life stories of God at work.
Preacher: Clinton Berends
This November we have a team of 10 from Redlands CRC attending Schoolies week on the Gold Coast, working as Hotel Chaplains. (Known as "Redfrogs"). While the team is taking the time off and paying their own way, we are still in need of your help. There are several ways you can do this:
On Nov 14th the redfrog will be cooking and selling pancakes after the AM and PM services to raise money and awareness for the redfrog cause. Plan to support them.
1) Purchasing Allens Red Frogs or Shaker Pancake Mix. We hand out the Redfrogs and make pancake breakfasts as a way of building relationships with the schoolies. If you could purchase these and leave them outside Clinton's office at church this would be a great help. Alternatively, if you make a donation we will go and purchase them for you
2) Be part of the Day Shift. Redfrogs is looking for people who can be a part of the call center during the day from 20-27th November. Great for Mums, retirees, or anyone with a day or two to spare during that week.
3) Pray. Please pray for the team. Derik, Chad, Sam, Claudette, James, Renee, Mark, Scott, Emily and Clinton. Pray for unity, strength, patience, wisdom and many opportunities to share Jesus with the schoolies.
If you have any questions about Redfrogs, or want to get involved, please feel free to contact Clinton.
Sunday 9am
There's no election in sight, so is it safe to talk about the church's calling in politics? How are Christians to view their responsibilities in the ballot box? Which party should we support? How do we address the many issues that arise in the political arena? Should we even try?
Preacher: Dave Groenenboom
THANKS
A big thank you to all for your very generous donations for Operation Christmas Child.
Hey church,
That was a fantastic celebration this morning! What a wonderful way to bring the Prodigal God series to a close: celebrating God's goodness together.
To...
- the small groups (led by the following people) who contributed their labour of love
- Ainsley & Dwayne
- Ettiene & Dana de Wilzem
- Clinton Berends
- Todd and Phil Sargent
- Dave Groenenboom
- Cor, Jan and Dennis who were there at the crack of dawn to get the spit roast underway
- Fitzsimmons Meats, Carindale
- IGA Cleveland (salads)
- Abrisca Coffee (coffee machine)
...we all thank God for your gracious and cheerful help: you all helped to make this day great!
The multitudes were fed: and there were baskets of food left over!
- Green salad
- Dry Coleslaw (2x 2.5kg bags)
If you have use for these, please either take it home tonight or collect it Monday morning
It's all just a brilliant testimony to the community Jesus is restoring, and a wonderful anticipation of the great feast of the Lamb on The Big Day.
Our God is an awesome God!
A Feast for everyone @ RCRC tomorrow
Tomorrow morning, after the service, we're all invited to stay behind and share in a feast: spit roast, roast potato and salads. Here's what we're celebrating:
- Our God is a gracious God: he does not treat us as our sins deserve
- No situation in life is beyond God's redemption, or lies beyond the power of God's restoring work in Jesus Christ
- God's acceptance in Jesus is full and free. He loves welcoming the lost, and does not rest until he finds them
This meal is for everyone present. So you haven't been for a while? Or you normally come in the PM? That's OK - we'd just be thrilled for you to join us. The meal is free. The fellowship will be warm. It will be good to be together. Bring the kids. Bring your friends. Come one, come all!
Any questions, please email Dave or call him on 0418 383 055
Also tomorrow:
Asthon Holz will receive the sign of covenent baptism. This will be a great celebratioon of God's seeking grace and the power of his love.
Dave's Message: The Kingdom of God is a ...feast? For some, the thought of standing before God fills them with trepidation. They recall past and present failings, and fear for what God might say or do to them. How does this picture compare with the picture of the father Jesus paints in the parable of the lost son? And is this picture just something for the parable, or does it indicate a more consistent biblical emphasis? If so, what does it mean for our expression and experience of the Gospel?
You can read ahead in Luke 15, and read wider in Tim Keller's Prodigal God, chapter 7
Church Planting Meeting - Rerun
Due to train holdups, foul weather and other events, some people couldn't make it to our Church Planting meeting last week. But never fear...
This Sunday, after the 5PM service we will be rerunning it. It will go for approx 1 hour in my (Clinton's) office.
If you want more information, please feel free to contact me.
For your prayers
Please pray for Mark Nugent as he has the treatment recommended for his back pain this coming Monday at 11am. The procedure is difficult and painful but the results could mean Mark can live with a lot less pain. Please pray for peace and endurance for Mark, and for the success of the procedure.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
This is the last week for collection... so bring in any things that you have. Be generous to those children who never receive presents under a tree. Thanks.
Baptism this Sunday morning
Ashton Holz will be baptised in this coming Sunday's morning service. Come and join in the celebration with our church family.
A Feast for everyone @ RCRC this Sunday!
Spit Roast Lunch on Sunday: Everyone is Invited!
To celebrate the end of The Prodigal God series, a wonderful lunch is being planned after the service on Sunday morning. We'll be wanting to serve this reasonably soon after the service, so you won't have to wait too long. It will be great to share with one another, and a wonderful opportunity to build a sense of family together. Even if you normally come in the PM service, it will be terrific if you could join us!
The idea is that this feast shows us something of the goodness of God, and his desire to celebrate the return of lost sons and daughters.
We're also encouraging small group leaders to put the word out and invite everyone in their group.
God has been so good to us, and it will be great to share the joy of that together.
If you have any questions, please email Dave Groenenboom
In your prayers...
- Phil & Bev Bird's daughter, Andrea, is still recovering from some blood clots. Please pray that Andrea can fully recover, and that the damage to her lungs will be overcome
- Bev has also had about of pleurisy, so let's also pray for her healing and recovery. Times like these can be challenging for a family, so let's surround them with God love and grace
- Marg Nugent has been quite ill this week - give thanks that she's on the mend (Dave & Clinton sure are!)
- This Sunday promises to be very special: pray that we might all deepen our awareness of God's grace and unmerited favour. Do come and celebrate as we all share a beautiful meal after the service. Feel free to bring friends...
Sunday - 5PM
Over the last 20 years environmental issues have come to the forefront of many people's minds. In the last election, issues such as Global Warming, an emissions trading scheme, and the Murray-Darling River system were major political platforms. There is almost no part of society that is untouched by the call to be renewable, environmentally friendly and eco safe. But what has this got to do with Jesus? If Jesus is redeeming everything, does that also include the environment. This Sunday, as we wrap up our series in Genesis 1-3 we will look at what it says about creation, the effect of sin, and our responsibility to it.
Interns 2011
In 2011 we are looking for 2 interns to become part of the ministry team at Redland CRC.
We are looking for people who love Jesus, want to grow in their faith and their understanding of ministry and can commit 1 day per week to ministry involvement, mentoring, and study.
One of the intern positions will be in HSM (High School Ministry), and we would prefer this to be filled by a female. The other is an open position, depending on the interests, gifts and passions of the successful applicant.
To find our more or an application form, please contact either Margaret, Clinton or Dave.

For your prayers of thanks
The Nugents feel that we would like to share some recent news with you. Mark went to a back pain specialist this week. When the doctor saw the xrays of Mark's fracture and spinal displacement he said he had never seen someone in this condition who was not a paraplegic. He said it is nothing less than a miracle that Mark can walk. We were so overwhelmed we want to share this news with our church family and thank you all for your prayers and support.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD REMINDER
Please remember your donations for Operation Christmas Child. This week we are hoping to receive something to play with, something for hygiene and something special. Thanks.
A Feast for everyone @ RCRC this Sunday!
When the lost son returned home, the father announced a feast to celebrate. This Sunday marks the end of the Prodigal God series, and we're going to celebrate, too!
We've arranged a lamb spit roast for the whole church family. Men, women, children, visitors! That means you're invited!
After the 9AM service, we'll have a brief coffee time, and then share lunch. Everyone is invited! You can even bring your friends!
This will be a great community time, and we'd really love you to stay as our guest and share this time with us. It's going to be great to share in this expression of the father's love!
Small group leaders: please pass this invite on to the rest of your group, and ask them to come along - we don't want anyone to miss out!
Any questions can be directed by email to Dave Groenenboom
