Sunday 9AM

Posted 14 October 2010, 2:14 PM by David Groenenboom. Permalink

Always travelling, but never arriving? Life is a treadmill. We work so hard to get ahead, to realise our goals, but do we ever get there? While disappointment seems to be our lot, we still keep striving.? Why do we all share these powerful inner drives?

God's word, and the message of Jesus, help us understand our longings. We are drawn deeply into the wonderful hope we can have in Jesus. Read ahead, Luke 15

We'll also see Sophia Crawford baptised, and there are some great songs in the line up! So looking forward to seeing you there!

THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!!!

Posted 14 October 2010, 12:26 PM by Margaret Nugent. Permalink

To my Church Family,

It is very difficult to describe how dark and challenging the last 6 weeks have been. Fortunately, for most of it I have no memory at all.

My family, Frank, Josh & Bec, Chris,  Ryan and Bekk, suffered through the fear of the unknown as to how I would come through this awful illness.

But thanks be to God,  I have fully recovered and I feel my happy, healthy self again.

Thank you  to all of you who visited me during my stay in hospital. The hospital ran out of vases with the number of bouquets I received.  When I came home, I read the mountain

of cards that had been sent from so many of you. Your encouraging words sent me to tears. Thank you also for the gifts.  But more than anything I want to thank you all

for upholding me and my family in prayer. Thank you for praying when I could not pray. There is nothing more wonderful than belonging to a church family where we can help carry each  other's burdens and encourage each other. What a blessing!!

On behalf of my family,

Janette Hemelaar

Please email or forward your written nominations to Dave, Clinton or CC Chairman, Cameron Nugent. Nominations will be finalised at our church council meeting on Tuesday November 9, 2010

Sunday 5pm

Posted 12 October 2010, 1:00 PM by Margaret Nugent. Permalink

Why is it so hard to find the right balance with work? Either work is seems to be a slave driver that we resent and can't wait to escape, or its a god that demands our 'worship' 24/7. What is the right place of work in our lives? This Sunday evening we continue our series in Genesis 1-3, looking at work, what it was meant to be, how sin has distorted it, and how God is redeeming work in our world.

Men, can you help Ria move house?

Posted 12 October 2010, 6:25 AM by David Groenenboom. Permalink

Ria Bijker, one of the RCRC church family, is moving house from Cleveland to Prins Willem Retirement Village (Birkdale) on Saturday. Ria's son is helping her, and a truck is organised, so all we need is a few strongly and sprightly men to help out. The plan is to start at 8:30am. What a great way to give Jesus' love some concrete expression!

Please let Glenn Williams, one of our Deacons, know that you can assist. It would be great to have the small team sorted before Wednesday. You can reach Glenn on 0488 085 443 or email Glenn at glenn@playgroundconsulting.com.au

In your prayers...

Posted 9 October 2010, 1:47 PM by David Groenenboom. Permalink

Janette Hemelaar has returned home from hospital and is really feeling much better. This is a great answer to prayer, so please join us un thanking God for his grace.

The Break the Cycle Team have reached Canberra after a gruelling challenge of riding their pushbikes all the way from Brisbane. People along the way have been drawn into mission and have learned much about justice and compassion. What a fantastic result. Now we just need to pray for healing...

We have a 'welcome lunch' tomorrow - even if you've just been coming to RCR for a short amount of time, we'd love you to stay on and join us for lunch. Please pray that this will be a great time of sharing and developing friendship for our church family.

Milla Alleway is coming along just fine now that her condition is understood and is being managed. Give thanks for great medical expertise and care, and please continue to uphold Russell, Carlee and Cooper as they make the adjustments and provide for Milla as she grows.

Sunday 5pm

We crave relationships, it doesn't take a genius to see that. We want to be in community, whether with 1 person, or lots of people. But while being the source of so much joy and fulfilment, relationships also seem to bring us so much hardache and pain. Ever wondered why this is the case and what can be done about it? This Sunday we are starting a short series in Genesis 1-3 looking at three areas that dominate our lives, and the Bible's teaching on them. This week we start with relationships, what they are meant to be, what has gone wrong, and what God is doing to redeem them.

9am Sunday

Luke 15 includes three parables: a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son. The shepherd goes after the sheep. The woman searches for her lost coin. Remarkably, there is no one to search for the lost son. What is Jesus getting at? What does this tell us about God? Or Jesus' mission? And, seeing that, how do we better see our role as the body of Christ in his world? It could be that the most profound lesson Jesus has for us in the parable is what he leaves unsaid.

MOPS HELP PLEASE

Posted 1 October 2010, 12:35 PM by Margaret Nugent. Permalink

Urgently needed for Mops on 6th October.

We are desperately needing careers for MOPS on 6th October as many of our carers have other commitments that day.
If you could give up a couple of hours between 9.30 and 11.30 just to help out in any of the 4 rooms (ages ranging from 3 months to 4 years) it would be gratefully appreciated. We usually need 3 carers for each room and 4 at least for baby room. If this is not met we may have to turn mums away.

Continuing the REFORMED series- the Japanese have a saying 'Only live things grow'- as a church we cant 'manufacture' new Christian however we are called upon to invite people to hear the message of salvation. The Bible shows us many principles which are honoured by the Holy Spirit and today we look at this. There are hundreds of ways to 'sow the seed'. For the Christian it's a passion for the lost, for the unbeliever it's a passion for Christ, for the 'tired' believer its another refreshing drink from Jesus river mentioned in John 7:37-39.

Sunday 5pm

This Sunday PM we are finishing off our reFORMed series. Building on the Biblical concept of the sovereignty of God, we will be looking at God's redeeming and restoring work in every corner of life, society and culture, and that everything we do is 'spiritual' and done for the glory of God. It means that whether we are playing tennis, eating sandwhiches, or working in the garden, we are involved in activities that God is deeply interested in.

9am Sunday

Posted 22 September 2010, 11:47 AM by Margaret Nugent. Permalink

Is the gospel really worth getting excited about? If so, how has God designed it so that the message of the gospel is spread throughout the world? Couldn't He have simply written it in the sky so that all may see? In the 10th chapter of Romans, Paul discusses God's evangelism plan and our responsibilities in relation to that. So come along this Sunday at 9am to hear more.

Upcoming Sunday Services:

Posted 22 September 2010, 11:46 AM by Margaret Nugent. Permalink

With both Dave and I away for the next week we are very thankful to those who will be filling in the preaching and leading responsibilities over the next two Sundays. This Sunday morning Ryan Hemelaar will be leading, preaching from Romans 10. Ryan is a student at Queensland Theological College, and having preached a couple of months ago, we are very excited to have him back. This Sunday evening we have Josh Hartog. Josh is the pastor at Westside Christian Church, also a member of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia. He will be speaking from John 4, looking at "Who is God?"

Next Sunday, in the morning service, we will have Graham Foster, a member of this church, who completed a BTH at Moore Theological College in Sydney some years ago. Graham is passionate about bringing the gospel to this world, and will be speaking on evangelism from a reformed perspective. And next Sunday night I will be back from holidays, fully refreshed and recharged, and will finishing off the reFORMed series, looking at a reformed world and life view.

Please pray for, and encourage, these men as they serve God, and us, through the ministry of preaching.
