Can you help?
Ex-Service Personnel?
Pastor Dave is interested in speaking with anyone who has served in the armed forces. In particular, this is for preparations we are making for Anzac Day. If you've had any service experience, please let Dave know: dave@redlandscrc.org.au
Relay for Life
We've also been approached by Cr Wendy Boglary to see if Redlands CRC would like to enter a team in this year's Relay for Life. This is a great fundraiser for cancer research, and given our recent experiences, it is no doubt something that is close to the heart of many. There may be a small coordination task involved - wouldn't it be great to serve others and thank God in this way?
If you're interested, Dave is the one to speak to dave@redlandscrc.org.au This year's Relay for Life will be held at Cleveland Showground on May 8/9 (also see p.10 of this week's Bayside Bulletin).
Easter Services at RCRC
This weekend's services will be held on Friday 9am and Sunday 9am. They will be great opportunities to worship at RCRC. They will be great services to bring family and friends to, and wonderful opportunities to hear the good news about Jesus.
We encourage everyone in the RCRC family to recommit to glorifying God in weekly worship. Life is busy, and there are many demands on our agenda. We can sometimes feel guilty about not being regular attenders. God, however, is in the business of dealing with guilt through Jesus and drawing people into worshipping him.
So this weekend, let's glorify him and together declare our love for Jesus who gave his life for us! What a celebration this will be!
Over recent years, Good Friday and Easter Sunday have seen high attendance. So plan to come early!
If you have questions, please email me
Triple C Club
The Triple C (Coffee, Craft & Chat) Club will be having a two week break over Easter. Normal Tuesday mornings will commence again, at the church, on 14th April, 9.30am
Ormiston Chaplaincy Update
Here's an update on the Chaplaincy work we support at Ormiston State School. It's great to see the work God is doing there through Melody Groenenboom who is Chaplain there 3 days per week.
If you'd like to be a special supporter of this work, we'd love to talk with you about how you can make a small monthly donation. Please email us and we'll get talking
In your prayers
Please keep the following in your prayers over the next week:
- Redlands Easter Family Festival - this will be held at Cleveland Showgrounds on Sunday from 4pm-8pm. Pray that the message of Jesus will be clear, and the love of Jesus found in the service offered by the volunteers. God loves this city, and it's great that we can support this wonderful effort
- The Kapinga family: Diny Kapinga is still in Mater Private, her condition changing from day to day. John is in high care at Prins Willem. This is a hard time for John & Diny, and their family. Please continue to pray for endurance and strength
- Lots of poeple travel over the coming weekend. If this is you, make sure your driving is the sort that honours God and is courteous to others. Make sure you rest enough. Pray that all travellers will be safe this weekend, and that Qld will be free from fatalities
- We're still looking for a buyer for Boundary Rd. We are in the hands of God, and we trust that he will provide the right buyer in His time. Pray that this may be soon, allowing us to move ahead in other areas

Good Friday 9am
Feeling distant from God? Many people look at their lives and behaviour, and wonder why God would want anything to do with them. This Friday, however, we will hear the best news ever! We'll see what God has done to remove every barrier that might come between us and God. It's gpoing to be a great time of praise, and being Good Friday, there will always be a few special things going on. We'll be celebrating the Lord's Supper, and finding in it a powerful assurance of the greatest act of love ever given. Read ahead at Matt 27:11-61

Burma Progressive Dinner Postponed
Sadly, the Progressive Dinner planned for Saturday April 10 has been postponed.
While Janette and Frank are so very thankful for the strong support with the Dinner, the situation with Mrs Diny Kapinga is placing additional pressure on them. They thought the church would be understanding at this time, and allow them to postpone the event.
The Dinner will be moved to new date in May or June, and we'll be sure to give you plenty of notice as to when it will be.
Special thanks to everyone for their patience, for their support and their prayers at this time. Thanks for being such a supportive church, not only for the wider Kapinga family at this time, but also for the children in Burma.
We'll keep you posted...
Kids@church
Kids@church is on this Sunday (Easter Sunday) - there will be a special Easter program and Easter egg hunt. Just sign them in before the service as usual.
9am Sunday
Why Easter Sunday, why the resurrection? All of the 'meaty' important theological stuff seems to have happened on Good Friday when Jesus died, and we might be left wondering whether it was really important that Jesus rose again. But throughout the Bible, when it speaks of Jesus dying - his rising is always there, and we often see two important reactions - peace and mission. This Easter Sunday, as we celebrate and remember the resurrection of Jesus, we will have our joy and our lives shaped by John 20:19-23.
Update on Mrs Diny Kapinga
This afternoon I received the following note from Janette Hemelaar about Mrs Diny Kapinga. Diny is married to John, who is often seated up the front of the audiotium in a wheelchair at Sunday meetings. Diny and John are the parents of Ruth Tenni and Janette Hemelaar.
Updating the eNews earlier this week, Janette writes,
Sadly, mum has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia which is a very serious form of cancer especially for someone 87 years old. She is requiring blood transfusions daily and some oral treatment just to help her feel more comfortable. She will be staying at Mater Private Hospital until her condition shows signs of major improvement or until the Lord takes her home. She is very weak and frail and it is recommended that visits be limited to family members at this stage. However, cards and words of encouragement are most welcome and can be sent to Diny Kapinga, Room 873 8th Floor South, Mater Private Hospital, Vulture Street, Woollongabba. John is also struggling with his health but is aware of the situation with Diny. It's a tough time, but we certainly all know the grace of God and His perfect plan.
Please do pray for God's grace and strength for the family. This news is very sudden and the condition is quite serious. Let's uphold these loved ones in the days ahead. Let's also pray that Diny will know the grace and nearness of the Saviour.
As this will be quite a busy time, Janette suggests that instead of phoning you make contact via email to Jannete and Frank (janette@royalfoods.com.au or hemelaar@royalfoods.com.au) and/or to Ruth & Greg Tenni (ruth@tenni.id.au).
Remember in Prayer
* In the last few days Deny Kapinga (Ruth Tenni and Janette Hemelaar's mother) was admitted to Mater Private hospital with some serious symptoms. Tests are being conducted at the moment, so please pray for Deny and John, and the rest of the family, that they may know God's comfort and grace at this time.
* Let's continue to thank God for the great news Fred and Carol Bottema received last week concerning Carol's cancer. Let's also pray that God continues to work as she finishes off her treatment.
* Please pray for wisdom and guidance as the Church Council seeks to find a replacement elder and some new deacons.
* Continue to pray that God would provide a buyer for the Boundary Rd property

WOMEN'S MINISTRY - GIFTED TO LEAD FORUM
A group of women are planning on attending the "Gifted to Lead" - one-day interactive forum for women. It will take place at Gateway Baptist Church on Saturday May 22nd. Nancy Beach is the speaker. She is Executive Vice President for the Arts, teaching pastor at Willow Creek and published author.. The cost will be $99 per person if we book before 12th April. "Gifted to Lead is an ideal opportunity to develop your God-given leadership gifts in the company of other Christ-following women. You'll benefit from the teaching of an experienced leader who understands the unique challenges and opportunities women face while leading in the church." If this sounds like something that would interest you, then contact Marg in the office so that we can secure the booking.
CLEANLINESS!
Just a reminder to all Ministry Leaders and those who use the church during the week or weekend. Please remember to make sure that you leave the church, and all the rooms, in the condition they were in when you arrived. We employ cleaners who come in once a week, usually on a Saturday morning, so if an event takes place after they have been, then it is up to those who are using the facilities to make sure that they are ready for Sunday. Thanks for your cooperation, The Committee of Management.
Sunday 9am and 5pm
Easter is a time that we associate with buns and bunnies, hot crosses and chocolates. Christmas is when we are thinking about gifts. But this Easter we want to think about two incredible gifts. Firstly, what Jesus has given us, in his dying and rising, and secondly, what we can give to him in the extravagance of our worship. Read ahead in John 12:1-8.

ALPHA - coming soon
In the new semester we will be kicking off a number of ALPHA courses in people's homes, and in some small groups. ALPHA is a 10 week video course which introduces people to the basics of the gospel, and what it means to be a follower of Jesus. If you are new to church, or new to Jesus, or have family and friends who might be interested in coming along, then this is for you. Over the next couple of weeks we will be giving you more information about how you can get involved, but for now, starting thinking and praying about who we are going to invite.
If you already have someone in mind, or want to participate yourself, please contact Clinton, 0424 477 487; clinton@redlandscrc.org.au
Sunday 9AM and 5PM
We have heard Jesus say a lot of wonderful things. We have been challenged and inspired to live very differently. We've had great discussions in our small groups. Now its time for the challenge. What are we going to do? How are we going to respond? What are you going to live for? Jesus words are clear: simply hearing and considering is not worth that much. What matters is what you do. Read ahead, Matt 7:13-29

Do Justice...
Free event: Compassion Australia Advocacy evening: 26th March, 7pm
If you have been challenged by Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, or inspired by the message of the Global Market Day last year, or captured by the heart of the work of the New Life orphanage in Burma, then this is an event for you...
You are being invited to do more for children... because you CAN.
Children are frequently the hardest hit by poverty and injustice and have the least resources or influence to change their circumstances. In 2010, Compassion Australia invites you to join us in becoming their voice.
The Compassion Advocacy Network (CAN) will provide you with ways to introduce justice into everyday actions- you can learn, speak up, take action, support, create, volunteer and pray... in thousands of different ways. Over the next two weeks, CAN will be holding a series of special evenings all over the nation to explore these different avenues.
Brisbane will be hosting the CAN on Friday 26th March at 7pm at Rochedale Baptist Church (199 Rochedale Rd, Rochedale)- and you are invited!
To RSVP, go to www.compassion.com.au/can or contact Melody Groenenboom at mgroenen@gmail.com for more information.

SUNDAY 9am and 5pm
Imagine if all the things that Jesus has spoken of in the Sermon on the Mount actually began to be realized in our lives, our small groups, and our church. Imagine the impact that would have. Imagine the levels of spiritual maturity we would attain. Imagine the spiritual force of giants we would be. Its exactly at this point in our dreaming that Jesus, as real as ever, steps in and puts a check to our dreams and ambitions. As God shapes us, and Jesus uses us, the overwhelming attitude of the kingdom inhabitant is to be humility. It affects everything, the way we relate to each other, the way we share the gospel, and the way we relate to God. Read ahead in Matthew 7:1-12
Burma Orphanage Update
This Sunday there will be an opportunity for you to find out the latest information as to what is happening with the 200 people involved with our orphanage in Burma (Myanmar). Eddie and Janette will give a short presentation on the orphanage, the problems they have faced, and their exciting rice paddy project which is the first step in the goal for them to become more self sufficient. Whilst there is much reason to give thanks to God, there are specific needs for prayer that will be mentioned. A couple of fund-raising ventures will be mentioned and one specific one which will also involve the children at Kids@Church. On April 23rd, a team of 10 people will be flying into Burma for a week to spend time with the 172 children, the leaders and the newly become hardworking rice farmers.
We are asking for your help in a couple of areas :-
1.Donations of clothes that can be brought in with the team : - particularly shorts. Girls sizes : 1 - 12 Boys: 1- 16 or Mens
2. Ongoing prayer for this "light" in the very dark world of Burma.

'Ask A Question' is up and running!
Hi church,
You can now start logging your questions about the current preaching series. All you have to do is click on the 'Ask a Question' link, and start typing. You can also access the 'Ask a Question' page from RCRC's home page (see the left hand menu bar).
After you have sent your question, it may not be visible right away, but it will be there for all to see eventually. All questions are checked before they are uploaded.
So if you have questions about a sermon, or you'd like something clarified, here's your big chance. Clinton and I are planning to answer some of your questions specifically in the services on April 18.
In addition to that, Clinton and I will endeavour to cover all the bases. You will receive a response in time.
Many thanks for taking the time to do this!
Dave & Clinton
