eNews Update re Pastor Keith Warren

Posted 28 November 2006, 8:25 AM by David Groenenboom.

Pastor Keith Warren remains in Greenslopes hospital recovering from a heart attack last Sunday. The good news is that medication given on Sunday has removed the blokage. Further tests will be done today to assess whether any damage has been sustained by the heart muscle. Please continue to pray for Keith and Emmy, who celebrated their first anniversary yesterday (along with Emmy's birthday).

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. Ps 116:1,2

eNews Update re Pastor Keith Warren

Posted 26 November 2006, 1:56 PM by David Groenenboom.

Keith Warren was taken to Redlands Hospital this morning with chest pains. Initial indications are that he has suffered some kind of heart attack. He is currently being transferred to Greenslopes Hospital for further tests. We’ll let you know the moment we have any further news.

Keith and Emmy were to travel to Victoria tonight to preach at the funeral (tomorrow) of Keith’s friend, Gary Ekkel. That has all changed now, so please pray for the Ekkel family as they make other arrangements.

Please continue to pray for healing and recovery, for the peace of the Gospel to surround Keith and his family.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The Lord almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress (Ps 46:10-11)

Car Wash Cleans Up!

Posted 25 November 2006, 5:11 PM by David Groenenboom.

Car Wash brings in $860.00

The Car Wash held today was a great community builder! A small army of car washers, people with the chamois (whatever they are called!), sausage cookers, etc saw a great sum raised for the Redland Community Centre. These gifts will be used to assist people in the community who find themselves in need during the Christmas Season.

Our prayer is for people to see the goodness of God, and that his love and grace are free in Jesus Christ.

Thanks church! Your ministry and witness are such an encouragement! Thanks Damien Watson for your desire to serve in this ministry!

Dave

Thank You

Posted 24 November 2006, 1:45 PM by Wendy Hammond.

To our church family,

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge “thank you” to you, our church family. Your many prayers, messages, emails, phone calls and offers to help have been much appreciated by us over the last week. It has been humbling to see God’s family at work in such a way and we know that whatever God brings our way in the future we amongst people who genuinely care. We have experienced the love, grace and provision of God through you all.

As you know, I had surgery on Tuesday. It was a success in that the surgeons removed a greater area of skin that surrounded the melanoma. However, due to its location, they were unable to remove the lymph node that controls that area of skin and so therefore will not be able to determine whether it has spread to the lymphatic system. At the moment, this means that the immediate future seems to be a ‘wait and see’ scenario. Of course, we would like a more definite outcome than this – but we rest assured that we have a God who is definite, who knows the future, in fact has it in his hands, and us as well. We have a follow up appointment with the oncologist next Friday (1st December) and will have a clearer picture then.

Once again, thank you so much for all you love and concern. We will keep you all informed as we go forward.

Clinton, Tracy, Tane and Ky

Car Wash - This Saturday 8am - 1pm

Supporting the Redlands Community Centre

The last car wash for the year will be on Saturday the 25th November between 8am-1pm.  Contact me, Damien Watson on Ph 3821 5181 or damienwatson@optusnet.com.au  to book in a time to wash, cook or welcome.

Sunday

9AM: Our focus will be on the second petition; 'Your Kingdom come'.
Wherever people love and worship God, there the Kingdom has already come. But that Kingdom is far from complete, and it is only when Christ returns that God will be 'all in all'.
In the meantime, God's people are to be fully involved in extending that Kingdom, for the evil one, the devil, is still wielding much power. Our prayers are a powerful weapon in that struggle, but more than prayer is asked of Kingdom workers. To pray 'Your Kingdom come' requires our full involvement. No one can pray this petition and at the same time remain a fence-sitter!

5PM: Jesus & The Untouchables
Christian ministry among the sick and have always been powerful pointers to the Kingdom of God. No small wonder: it's exactly what we see Jesus doing in his ministry. The big question is: what does it mean for us? [I have changed untouchables to rejects, because this will communicate more accurately the experience of the leper in his [lack of] community].

Free Sausage Sizzle - 3 December

On the 3 December everyone is welcome to stay behind after the morning service for a sausage sizzle.

Prayer

- Please pray for continued healing and recovery for Clinton Berends. He's recovering from his surgery last Tuesday and has an appointment with the specialist next week. The picture may be a little clearer then as to how they will move ahead. Give thanks to our all powerful God, asking for him to intervene in this situation, and also that our hearts will be humbled as we rely on him
- Pastor Keith has to fly to Geelong Sunday afternoon to conduct the funeral of a friend, Gary Ekkel. Please pray for for Keith and Emmy in what has now become an even busier weekend. Ask also that Keith's ministry can bring the comfort of the Gospel to those in grief
- Remember the Hotel Chaplains, on the last few days of their ministry on the Gold Coast. It's been a big week, some working into the early hours of the morning and then working a full day back n Brisbane, only to return later after some snatched sleep for more Chaplaincy ministry. Give thanks for servant attitudes, pray for safety, and continued opportunity for the Gospel

Clinton has come through his day surgery today, and while he is still a little groggy, Tracy says that it will just be a bit of a waiting game now until further pathology results are known at the end of next week.

Please continue to pray for recovery and healing.

Are you already in leadership and feeling a lack of training or direction?

Ministry Involvement: Get involved in various ministries at RCRC and beyond.

Mentoring: Weekly mentoring with a Pastor, focusing on Spiritual growth, things learnt from study and Ministry Involvement.

COST

The cost of an internship depends on the course of study undertaken. There is some help available from RCRC and some courses are eligible for Austudy / Newstart allowances.

Prayer Diary

Surgery for Clinton

Today Clinton Berends undergoes surgery to remove more tissue from the site of the melanoma, removed from his neck last week. This is day surgery, and Clinton should be home again later today. Specific results may not be known for another week or so.

Please pray that Clinton and Tracy will rest in the knowledge that our great God has them in his hand. Pray for skilled surgeons and staff, pray for full healing and recovery.

Q. How does the knowledge of God’s creation and providence help us?

A. We can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing can separate us from His love. All creatures are so completely in His hand that without his will they can neither move nor be moved.

Clinton had an appointment with the oncologist today, and the plan is for him to have some day surgery on Tuesday to remove some more tissue from the site of the melanoma. The surgeons may also take some lymph nodes for further testing. After this, the picture may be a little more clear.

Please continue to pray for Clinton, Tracy, and the boys that the certainty of God’s promises will give them comfort and peace. Pray also for healing, that our sovereign Lord will intervene and remove this insidious cancer.

We also say hello to Clinton's mother, Colleen (from New Zealand), who is visiting this weekend. It's a blessing that Colleen can be with Clinton and Tracy for a few days - God is good!

Sunday

Ever had to give up something you really love? Spare a thought for elderly Abraham. Waited longer than many of us will live for a son, then God says "Give him up!" What does this very short story have to say to us about life and how we do it? Is it possible that in letting things go, we may actually really receive them? Could this loosen the hold materialism has on us, maybe once and for all? Dave suggests you read ahead at Gen 22:1-19 [Dave will be preaching on the same text in both services, though application will be quite different. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the meal, and the dessert as well!]

This Sunday we'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper in the morning service

Please Pray for Clinton, Tracy and the boys...

At the conclusion of last night's meeting, Pastor Clinton advised us all that he has been diagnosed with a melanoma on his neck. Initial removal indicates that further surgery and tests are required. He will be visiting a specialist this week, with surgery likely next week.

Clinton spoke of the deep appreciation for the care and love he and Tracy have from the Redlands church family, and more so for the faithfulness of God whose love and grace are never uncertain.

Then almost everyone present gathered around Clinton as we prayed for strength, peace, and specifically for healing.

Church council would urge continued and fervent prayer for Clinton, Tracy and the boys. Let us remember that nothing happens outside of our gracious God’s care and presence. We can be confident in his grace for every new day as we follow him. We would also encourage your ongoing support and care for Clinton and Tracy – gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing for the bones Prov 22.24.

Redlands CRC, Chapter 2, verse 1

A momentous meeting last night saw a well attended meeting embrace the purchase of land adjacent to our current property - itself a wonderful answer to prayer.
Please pray for the Lord's blessing on our decision, thanking him for the blessing of our united voice
Ask that he will deepen our commitment to our mission in the community and our ministry to one another
Prayerfully consider a courageous and generous ongoing pledge to our now significantly increased financial burden. Pledge forms will be available on Sunday, or by email request to dave@redlandscrc.org.au

Car Wash

The last car wash for the year will be on Saturday the 25th November between 8am-1pm.

Contact me, Damien Watson on Ph 3821 5181 or damienwatson@optusnet.com.au  to book in a time to wash, cook or welcome.

The car washes have been a great sucess at reaching out into our community, team building, and supporting some very worthwhile projects.

I'm a bit stumped about what to put the funds towards this time.  So let me know if you have a charity/need you would like to see supported.  It should be something the community will identify with.
