9am Service Details - 10 year Celebration

Posted 7 October 2009, 8:39 PM by Wendy Hammond. Permalink

"Wow, 10 years!!! Its great, amazing. And what about the next 10, they're going to be cool too, right?

But what are we really celebrating when we look back over the last 10 years, and what is really worth looking forward to? This Sunday we will look at 1 Kings 8:56-61 and see Solomon's focus as the nation of Israel celebrates, and let God guide us as we celebrate on Sunday. Read ahead.

10th Anniversary Celebration

This coming Sunday is a special day of celebration - we're thanking God for 10 years as a church family!

This will be a special time of thanksgiving, starting with a combined service at 9am.  AM & PM people will all be together in the one place. There will be expressions of gratitude for the wonderful blessings God has given us, and there will also be times of prayer, expressions of dependence on his grace for the future, and a shared celebration of the Lord's Supper. This will be Clinton's first opportunity to open the Word with us following the family's return from leave!

There is no doubt that His wonderful grace has sustained us through some significant times of challenge, and there is also no doubt that he has acted to bless us beyond measure. We acknowledge this great God and hold him in the centre of all we have, all we are, and all we seek to attain.

We also would like to encourage members of the church family to give verbal expressions of thanks, share prayer, and even some words of encouragement. We're hoping that in this way we can all clearly give honour and glory to the God who is with us. If you'd like to participate in this way, please just email Dave so we can plan ahead.

In particular, I would encourage you to

  • come early
  • please fill up the overflow car park first, unless disability makes the extra walking a problem
  • if you normally come along to the 5pm service, we'd love you to join us for the 9am service this week. It's going to be such a blessing to all be together (there will be no 5pm service held this week)

After the celebration in worship, we will share a meal together. The idea is that we all bring something to share. Please remember: there may be people turning up on the day who were not aware of our celebration, so please bring a little extra as well if you can. God's loves it when his people are generous and hospitable!

This is what we're asking you to do about food:

  • If surname starts with A - J then please bring a plate of sweet food / desserts.
  • If surname starts with K - Z then bring a plate of savoury food.
  • BYO - Drinks, glasses, chairs and picnic rugs

Also, so the children have something to do, we're also planning

  • Jumping castle
  • Clown
  • Face Painters

It's going to be a great day, and we're asking you to pray that this itself will be a memorable day of worship and fun.
