NEWS FROM THE FLOODS
Happy New Year!!
We hope you've enjoyed a lovely break and wish you all the best in the coming year.
We took a break away for two weeks over the school holidays and also had the opportunity of visiting another project. It was a real joy to see and hear the work going on in other places. We are now back and the second semester has begun! Steve is keeping very busy, still making and fitting windows for the new children's home. At long last they have finished making all the fly screens. I am continuing with my lower primary English classes but I've also picked up the Grade 7 and Grade 8 Advanced English classes. The students are very keen - especially if there's a mention of a game! - and are a pleasure to teach.
We sent out our Nov-December newsletter in mid December but we've had a number of people contact us to say they didn't receive it. Hence, we are attaching it again. If you have already received this, our apologies! If you didn't receive it earlier, please accept our belated Christmas greetings! We hope you find our spot of news encouraging - God is at work. (Our next newsletter should be out early February.)
With the news of the Haiti earthquake, I can't help but look around me and imagine it in this place. I cannot comprehend the desperation that would be here should such a quake hit. There is nothing in place to deal with a natural disaster of even half that magnitude. Yet, from what I can tell, the area here is much better off than Haiti so the devastation there must be truly horrific. Hence, I would like to express again: We are sincerely grateful to you for partnering with us here, to be a part of making a significant difference in individual lives and in transforming communities and community values in this place. Thank you.
Warmest regards,
Steve and Nat
