Breakfast Meeting notes

Yesterday’s breakfast meeting was great! Great fellowship, great food, great discussion. It was so encouraging to observe that most of the discussion focussed around questions like why are we here? Why has God given us such rich blessings? It was a blessing to hear and affirmation of being a pilgrim church “a stranger in a foreign country” (Heb 11:9) seeking to obey and follow God, even though we may not have all the answers (v.8). This means we will not want to be a church focussed on the safe, the known, and the comfortable.

There was a lot of positive discussion about moving into some form of church planting cycle and a recognition that significant resources and commitment will be required for this. It is a picture of the future which assumes a high level of engagement with the community around us, more developed skills in outreach and witness, increased attention to raising leaders (for church plants and in general) and providing teaching depth throughout the body. These are some of the ways we may re-invest the wonderful “talents” the Lord has entrusted to us (well done, here’s some more” – see Matt 25:14-30).

Discussion about buildings and facilities, then, becomes a means to an end: “what will help us achieve things like these in the best possible way?”

With that in mind, the following options were presented to the meeting, and we encourage you to focus on these as you pray for the remainder of June. There may even be other options that come to mind: feel free to share them (send your email to justask@redlandscrc.org.au ). For now, please pray about these:

1)    Continue with the current concept plan, and prepare all the necessary reports, and tests council require with this application.

2)    Review the current master plan, and design a development that will cater for a smaller church eg 500  ( approx 100 car spaces, which is 2 times our current premises ).

3)    Seek to purchase the 1.75 acre next door property on Boundary Rd ( for approx $650 k.). And retain the same size development as first suggested.

Note- The extra land will overcome concerns for parking / sewage / landscaping and possible main roads issues.

4)    Just hold onto the Boundary Rd property, and await future development programs in that area, … while at the same time focusing on other evangelistic / mission solutions.

5)    Liquidate the Boundary property, and find other options for evangelistic / mission solutions.

6)    Continue to negotiate with the neighbours of the Ormiston property to purchase their properties so that we can begin a facility expansion program.

7)    Other suggestions? Please let us know and please keep praying for the Lord's guidance.
