June 06 – The Lost
Rom 1:18-32 What a terrible life!
Observe: We often (mis)read this as proof that people are condemned forever. And as an affirmation of the life we have received in Christ. But the horror of sin and depravity is something the Gospel of Jesus seeks to address. Just try and imagine people living this way: the pain of destructive relationships, the ugliness of greed, the ‘hell on earth’ depravity.
Contemplate today the ‘trouble and distress for everyone who does evil’. This is our world apart from Christ. This is our community. These are your neighbours and workmates.
Is there a greater need for the people you know than for them to know the Jesus you know? To hear the Gospel He has given you in Jesus Christ?
Pray:
- That we might be moved by the aimless, empty and destructive lives of the lost around us
- That as these realities settle on us our great desire might be to share the hope we have in Christ
