RCRC Month of Prayer
June 13 – The Joy of Finding
Read: Luke 15:1-16 "The Lost Son"
Observe: This is a heart rending tale: the son shows total disrespect for his father, he treats all the father’s gifts with contempt, he seeks his inheritance before his time, then he wastes it, and to top it all off, he ends up working one of the most offensive jobs ever. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, his starts longing for the food these filthy animals are eating. Is there a lower low than that?
Is it because we know the end of the story that we are drawn to this lost son? If that’s true, maybe it’s more evidence that we are created as God’s image. He loves the lost because he knows the end of the story. In fact, He is the story. His grace can, and does, transform the most offensive and obnoxious into people who hearts are inclined to praise: loving God and other people. From junk to God’s handiwork.
Do you believe God still works this way? That He can do this work in the lives of those who offend you and show contempt for the things you love?
Pray:
- That we will be more able to see the world through our redeemer’s eyes, and ‘see’ people as God would have them be in his Son
- That our future plans and facilities will have one great focus: to be a beacon of hope for lost sons and daughters
- Land developments: discussions are still at a critical stage. Please pray for patience, and that God’s will might be done. Pray that he will open the doors he wants us to walk through.
