Prayer Diary

The Salisbury family: Peter's mother, Bev Salisbury, has this last week had surgery for bowel cancer. Today she has returned home form hospital and will find out next week about further treatment options. Further, Alexandra's mother, Mrs Emma Honig, last week had a fall and broke her pelvis. This has meant not only that Mrs Honig has had to extend her stay, but also that she is in considerable pain. Please uphold these sisters in the Lord, praying that God will bring them both to speedy and full recovery. Please also remember Peter, Alexandra and the family, at this demanding time. God's promise is that he gives us all we need

We have also seen the terrible destruction in Christchurch, New Zealand. Humanity seems so insignificant in the face of such powerful forces of nature. A number of RCRC people have family in Christchurch: Clinton, Tess, and others. Thankfully, reports indicate that all those known to us have escaped personal harm. Reports from CRCA sister churches in Christchurch indicate that one worship centre (Cornwall St) has suffered substantial damage due to liquefaction, as has the nearby retirement village. As yet, there are no reports of death or personal injury from Reformed Churches of New Zealand families - we are very thankful to the Lord for his care and protection. Please uphold civic leaders in Christchurch and beyond, who will be faced with the task of rebuilding the city, once the rescue and recovery stages have been completed. As we pray for God's nearness, we are strengthened with his promises:

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." (Psalm 46:1-3, TNIV)

Ettiene de Wilzem has commenced his classes at RTC in Geelong. He will be away from Redlands, and his dear wife Dana, for several months. Please especially remember Ettiene and Dana at this time. We also pray for Rene Watson, our HSM Intern, as she takes on additional responsibilities.
