RCRC Month of Prayer

June 23 – God’s new community

Read: Matt 5:114-16 – "Light!"

Observe: One dictionary says ‘light makes vision possible’. That would have this passage saying God’s people give vision to their world. How? By living as Christ calls them to live, they allow three things. One: people see who they really are – people who need grace, love, and reconciliation to God. Two: they see who Jesus really is – God’s son, full of grace and love, the one who brings reconciliation. Three: they see what a God governed world could be – a community of grace and love, living out the transforming grace of Christ’s Kingdom.

How does this start to happen? When we the church are the light we are called to be. Let us put this light on its stand. Let us remove the buckets and the bowls. Church, let your light shine!

Pray:

  • Ask God give us the courage to remove anything that hinders our light. Ask for courage to enhance and improve anything that makes our light more effective. Pray that our property decisions will filtered by the desire to be a beacon of hope in our city
  • New Developments!: It has been hard to organise meetings this week. Please pray for progress, and patience.
  • Lord, bless the contract which has been offered on the "plumber’s block" [196 Delancey) and act though human hearts (ours and theirs) to bring your will to greater expression. This contract, Lord, is yours. Do with it what you will.
  • Lord, have us live what we are: light of the world! Let us be a model of your grace as we live out your Gospel.
