40 Days of Community
7 weeks to go
In just over 7 weeks, we begin another adventure as a church- as we embark on 40 Days of Community. It is a time that we are praying, and working for, that God will show us what it means to be a community that follows Jesus, and what it means to be a part of the community around us.
For that 40 days we are asking you to commit to the following:
Allowing God to shape and change you so that he might form us into a genuine Christ-following community
Attending a weekly service as we discover God's plan for community
Attending a weekly Small Group to experience and grow the community first hand
Participating in daily devotional readings from the book "Better Together"
What is happening behind the scenes?
Already, much has been done to prepare for this spiritual journey. For example:
New Small Groups are being formed so that everyone can be involved
Mission projects are being prepared for each Small Group to participate in
A Discovery Service, "Better Together", is being organised for February 11 (one week before 40 Days begins), so that you can invite people to be a part of this journey
A prayer team is seeking God's blessing and guidance in the work being done
Weekend services are being planned
There is much to do, but God has been good in providing people and passion for the work.
What can you do now?
Right now there are several things that you can be doing:
Praying: let's ask boldly, confidently and regularly that God would be at work in us and through us during this time
Reading: read (or reread) the book "The Purpose Driven Life". There are copies in the church library. If you need one, email 40days@redlandscrc.org.au
Asking: invite your family members, work mates, neighbours and friends to join you for this journey
Sign Up: from January 7th, Community Central will take your sign up to order books and be placed in a Small Group for the 40 Days.
In John 17:23 Jesus himself prayed for us with these words:
"May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them, even as you have loved me"
Let this be our paryer, and our goal, as God works in us and through us during this time.
