Health Update

Posted 25 January 2007, 8:28 AM by Clinton Berends. Permalink

Hi Church,

As some of you have already heard by now, over the last week there have been a couple of developments with my health, following on from my melanoma a few months back. I discovered another lump in my neck a week ago, which this week was decided was a lymph node that has been infiltrated by the melanoma. After an appointment with my oncologist on Tuesday it has been decided to remove all of the lymph nodes in the right hand side of my neck. At the moment I am awaiting a surgery date which looks like it will be some time next week. I have had other tests and the results of those, with the results of biopsies on my lymph nodes, will determine where we go from here.

Again, it is a time of uncertainty, but also a time of great reliance on our heavenly Father. We are sure that this too is in His hands, and that is the best place for it to be. It has been hardest for Tracy, who is also struggling with morning sickness at the moment. Her Mum, Tania, has come to spend a few days with us to give us a hand through this time.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers at this time. There is not a lot of practical help that we need at the moment, but be assured, when there is, we will be on the phone.

Currently I am just ‘working’ as normal, and will rearrange things when I know when my surgery is.

Again, thank you for your love, support, prayers and friendships. There is no better family to belong to than the family of God.

Clinton, Tracy and the boys.
