Mid Week News

Posted 21 February 2008, 10:40 AM by Wendy Hammond. Permalink

Sunday

9am: The last few weeks we've seen a lot of it: a chopper swings low over the stricken vessel and the occupants are winched to safety; the small boat pulls up close to the house, now flooded, and the couple are taken to where it's dray and warm; the bronzed Aussie on the beach, vigilant for any swimmer who gets into trouble. These are the rescuers, and life itself is in their hands. Most of our experience, though, is of other people being rescued. But what about you? What do you need to be rescued from, and more importantly, is rescue actually possible? Read ahead at Luke 15

5pm: This Sunday evening 7 of the young people from HSM will be publicly professing their faith, and 2 of them getting baptized. We get to hear first-hand the stories of Jesus' rescuing power in each of their lives, and we can once again see that he is seeking and saving people everyday within our own church and community. A service like this is a time of great celebration. We celebrate with Jesus and with these young people as they give their lives to him. The young people are Stephen Doedens, Paul Neville, James Sikkema, Rachel Spence, Ross Tenni, Renee Watson & Ed Wium. Come and share in this special time with them.

Kids @ Nite

There will be no kids@nite program running on Sunday 24th February.
The children will stay in the service for the pro faiths and baptisms.

Thank You

"Dear Church Family,

We would like to thank all of you who have prayed, sent cards, supplied meals, given flowers and called to see how Michelle is since the operation on the 6th February. Things have gone well and it has taken and will take more time for total healing. We are very grateful to belong to such a supportive, caring and community centred church. Michelle has 3 months off in total and then we go from there. Gary is back to work on Monday 23rd so Michelle will be on her own and would love any calls or visits.

Take care and God bless,

Gary, Michelle, Kailah and Bryce Hudson."

Desperately seeking Helpers!!

MOPS is a ministry that gives frazzled mums 2 hours of time out each fortnight.

As part of the program, we provide childcare for the little ones with lots of fun activities, crafts and stories.

Two of our rooms have vacancies which need to be filled by helpers willing to come and play for one Wednesday morning per fortnight. Could this possibly be you? Do you have 2 or 3 hours a month where you could support these mums from our community? A great way to meet people and show Christ to these little ones. No preparation required, it's all done for you. Maybe you are not sure and would like to come and see what MOPS is about? You are very welcome to come and visit on a Wednesday morning. Please contact Miranda Goodridge on 3822 2641 or 0432 579 044 or email me at pg.mg@pacific.net.au Our next meeting is Wednesday 27 Feb.

Twenty20

There's lots of talk this week about how much money the Aussies are getting paid to play in the IPL. Well the big talk in the Redlands this week is how little you have to pay to play in the Inter-church twenty20 competition! It's seriously the cheapest organised cricket competition you will find. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to have a laugh on the cricket pitch with your church family.
3 hours on a Saturday afternoon kicking off early April. 10 week season.

Why Community?

Because God says we're better together!

We all crave a sense of belonging

We all want a church that is open and accepting of others

We all want to reflect the love of Jesus to our local community

So where do we start?

10 +3

  • 10minutes - speak to someone you don't know
  • Pray for someone
  • Invite someone home
  • Ask someone to your small group

"Lets start making a difference together"
