New Teacing Series @ RCRC Starts Sunday!

Posted 17 July 2008, 6:16 PM by David Groenenboom. Permalink

New Teaching series starting on Sunday:

We want to take this opportunity to warmly invite you and your friends to a new teaching season at Redlands. For the next four Sundays, we're seeking to make the AM and PM services times of challenge, comfort and God honouring community. The issues we'll be opening up will have great application for followers of Jesus and seekers alike. They will be key opportunities for you to bring friends and to deepen your understanding of being a follower of Jesus in 21st Century Australia.

I have a friend who struggles with... (AM)

...will help us all deal with questions that are often confusing and troubling. They are bound to be issues that you have either struggled with, or you will know people who do. Clinton will open up the following topics:

July 20 - Struggling to forgive hurt and anger

July 27 - Can you be a Christian and gay?

Aug 3 - Spiritual warfare

Aug 10 - Living a Double Life? Sunday vs. The rest of the week

It's a Bloke's World (PM)

Dave will take us on a four week journey exploring Christian masculinity - what does it mean? What does the Bible say? Make no mistake: this is not just for older men or younger men, or married men, or fathers. If you are a male this series is for you. And if you are a female, you will be just as interested!

It seems that more and more men are withdrawing from key areas of family and church life. In a day when men need to be more decisive they seem to be increasingly passive. What's all that about? We need to make some changes, but what are we really aiming for? How can we know for sure?

This series will open up the following areas:

July 20 - Male Models - where are they these days? How can young children have clear and positive male examples to follow?

July 27 - Breaking the cycles of child sexual abuse. A guest speaker (Jo Briffa from "Bravehearts", the organisation headed up by Hetty Johnstone) will challenge us all to make our families and churches safe places for children and communities that truly honour Jesus. I have heard Jo's story before, and found it compelling, moving, and honouring of the Bible's emphases. Jo recently spoke at the CRCA Women's Conference to wide acclaim. You will not want to miss this!

YAK Cafe (R)  will follow - so there'll be plenty of time to talk with Jo Briffa and each other about this issue.

Aug 3 - Man about the house - Men, Leadership and Spirituality. Debunking the myths, and moving ahead in a way that glorifies Jesus

Aug 10 - Men at Work: Why we love to work, the positives and the pitfalls

In summary...

Let's make these next four weeks key times of growth and encouragement. Please pray that God in His grace will bless us with a clear vision of his will, and that His Spirit will lead us into a more faithful following of Jesus!

What a blessing to be part of Jesus' new community!
