Congregational Breakfast - this Saturday 16th August, 8am.

The whole church family will meet to finalise plans and consider a tender for the extensions. I am not sure what you think, but these breakfasts really are great times of fellowship. You get to meet people, share a meal, and see how the people of God can do business well. We really want a strong and united voice to move ahead on the extensions. We would love to see the place packed out.

Small Group Leaders: please encourage every family represented in your group to come along. Come on, young people, old people, families - this is your church! Please come, and let's walk this road together!
The following motions will be presented:
♦ That the congregation of the RCRC accept the quote as presented (dated the 4th August ) by Schultz and Burns, or lesser amount should amendments be made.
♦ That the plumbing services be co-ordinated and completed under the supervision of A. Holz to a value of approx $7500
♦ That all electrical work be co-ordinated and completed under the supervision of D. Bevan to a value of approx $7500
Background Information:
The current quote amount for the Schultz & Burns tender totals - $305,000 plus GST. ( The GST amount is something we will claim back ). It includes the fit out and PC items, but excludes plumbing, electrical and painting. It also excludes carpets, sound and visual equipment and kitchen equipment.
The estimate for the kitchen fit out will be noted at the congregational meeting, but this will need to be addressed financially at another time (treasurer's request !!)

Sunday

9am:  How special it would be if Jesus would write us a letter, specifically to Redlands CRC.
Well, He did do that, you can read it in Revelation 2:1-7. True, this letter was for the ancient church in Ephesus, but as it's in the Bible, it is also for us.
Lots of activity in this Ephesus church, they couldn't stand wrong teaching, they did not deny Christ. But was it all done with a cold heart? How is that possible?
How does Redlands CRC take this to heart?

5pm: Sunday evening we begin a new series in the book of 1 John, looking at how we can be a Community of Light in this world. Through this letter we'll tackle many challenges to our faith, address difficult lifestyle changes, and come out the other side renewed and refreshed in God's love. In the first week, we'll be looking at being a Community of Purity, continually throwing off sin and obeying God. The question we need to ask ourselves is, "Am I being honest about my sin?" The forgiveness of Jesus is powerful, but only if we are willing to acknowledge our need for it. And when we do, we receive confidence to obey God and live pure lives.

"Draw Near - Opening yourself to God"

Dave's next series, starting August 24 (AM), will look at different aspects of deepening and developing our relationship with God. I'd like to ask you:

- What specific actions, habits, or disciplines have been helpful for your growing walk with Jesus?

- What questions do you have about the Christian faith and how you give expression to it in your life?

I am very interested in hearing from you, so feel free to email dave@redlandscrc.org.au

CAR WASH

Our tank is full - so Saturday 23rd August is our first Car Wash in quite a while. The Car Wash will be 8am -12noon.  Sign up for a shift (or two) by emailing Malcolm Van Basten with your availability (vanbasten@royalfoods.com.au) or look for, and fill in, the sign-up sheet at Community Central on Sunday.
We need people to wash cars, carry and re-fill buckets, organise refreshments and chat to the customers. This is one of those great times when our community comes to us - and an opportunity for everyone to take part (and have some fun as well.)
