Backyard Mission
Just a reminder that Backyard Mission is scheduled this Saturday 23rd at 14 Lewisham Court Birkdale at 8.30am (I will be leaving the Church at 8.15am if anyone needs a lift). The owner, Mrs Butler, has asked if we could tidy up 2 garden beds at the front of the property which have been taken over by grass and weeds. Additionally, there is a small tree that needs removal. 9am: ‘Draw Near - Open yourself to God'
Heb 10:19-25
Somewhat introductory, though we'll be looking at what it means to ‘draw near to God', asking the question of whether we're really as open to God as we could be, and what we might be able to do about it.
5pm: A Community of Truth
In the world we live, truth is a matter of opinion. No one is sure of what truth is. People are becoming more and more convinced that there is nothing solid to base life on. Even as Christians, we struggle discerning what is true and what is false.
But John shows us in his first letter that those who walk in the light can be confident in the truth of Jesus Christ. The Son of God is the centre of truth and the measure of everything else in life. In Jesus we find an unshakable and immovable foundation, and from him we can distinguish between what is true and what is false.
Car Wash
8am-12noon Saturday 6th September
The car wash has been postponed until 6th September (originally planned for August 23rd). Please still sign up via Mal Van Basten or at Community Central.
We need people to wash cars, carry and re-fill buckets, organise refreshments and chat to the customers. This is one of those great times when our community comes to us - and an opportunity for everyone to take part (and have some fun as well.)

Prayer
- Remember those who are grieving: the partner of Hilary Maclean's daughter (Jenny) passed away last weekend. Daniel Zollinger's father, Eugen, also died. His funeral was held this afternoon in Thorneside.
- Please pray for Alana Salisbury who has been unwell for the past three and a half months. She has been suffering from fatigue, head and stomach aches and a series of tests have been unable to determine either a cause or a treatment. Please pray for healing.
- Dave, Clinton and Dan Kroon travel to the CRCA Ministers Conference in Sydney in the coming week. Please pray that this will be a stimulating time for all
- Clinton's birthday is Saturday: have we got something to be thankful for! God is so good!
- Last Sunday I found out about a single mum (+5 children), known to people in our congregation, who really needs a replacement car. This is genuine and somewhat pressing need - can you help? I have had some offers of cash: maybe there's more out there? Maybe someone has a car they don't need? We just need something reliable.
