Sunday
9am: "Some of the greatest barriers people have to following Jesus are his current followers" I am not sure how you respond to that. But I do think that even a casual reader of the Gospels will find a yawning gulf between the Jesus they read about in the New Testament and most Australians who go by his name today. Some will address this tension by suggesting we need to go back to the New Testament church. The problem is that there is no uniform picture of the New Testament church. Which one of them would you really want to be like? Perhaps the better advice is that we should clearly identify with Jesus. Is that what you want to do? Read ahead at Luke 5:27-31

Backyard Mission blitz...
We have four projects that we want to complete before December. It's a big ask, but it's great to see what God does in the community through Backyard Mission. Here are the details:
- General garden tidy up for an elderly woman in Ormiston (Nov 1)
- Garden touch up for an MS sufferer in Cleveland (Nov 15)
- Garden bed turn over for an older couple in Capalaba (Dec 6)
- General garden tidy up for a women in Alex Hills (Dec 13)
I understand this is a lot of projects, but think of the great work we are doing reflecting God's love and grace in the community - this is what it's all about. It would be great to have just a few more workers each day to share the load. It really is great working and serving together. It would be great to have 8 - 10 for each team
To join a team, please e-mail me at cmvan@optusnet.com.au so I can plan.
Thanking you in advance,
Chris van Schyndel

Christmas Choir
Christmas Choir begins 1st November, not 25th October!
Just letting all those who are interested in singing in the Christmas Choir this year that it will start on the 1st of November at the church (3:30 - 5pm), not the 25th of October as advertised in the bulletin. All ages & voice types welcome. Hope to see you there! Contact Melissa van Schyndel or Christina Faulkner for details.
New Elders
Frank Hemelaar and Dave Klease are bringing their service as elders to a close. They are served well and we thank God for the way he has worked through them. This means we need two new elders, so we're asking the congregation for nominations of men suitable to serve as elders. In addition to passages like 1 Tim 3, elders need to be supportive of RCRC's mission and vision, exemplary in their behaviour, and display gifts of leadership. You can email your suggestions to dave@redlandscrc.org.au, or even hand them through in written form. Closing date for suggestions is Nov 11. The elders will meet on that date to finalise nominations.
We ask you to prayerfully give this matter your consideration, and ask for the Lord's guidance as we choose new leaders.
Prayer
- Full attendance at the Breakfast meeting on Saturday: unity, forward movement, and increased faith in the Lord of the church
- Those who struggle with illness: Alana Salisbury, Margaret Harwood, Clinton; give thanks that Keith Warren is on the mend!
- Deepening love for all those who do not know Jesus
