This week we're starting a new series on the book of Jonah called, "To Obey Or Run Away." Just like Jonah, we have the tendency to run from God's calling on us. Either that or we pretend we don't know what it is! Jonah heard it directly and ran the other way. We say we don't hear it and then plead ignorance.
But it's clear from reading Jonah that God's purpose is to use us to turn unbelieving people into believers. And we need to know that God will never let up on that purpose - it is his mission. If we run from that calling, God will pursue us and help us become the mission-minded people he wants us to be. Because remember, he is sovereign! Read Jonah 1.
