Prayer Update

Update on Kiana

I received the following message from Kiana's parents (Niah & Duncan) late this afternoon:

Kiki has no more bleeding today and no fluid buildup so far. Still blood & bruising on brain and in quite bit of pain but she is doing well under circumstances. No surgery unless she deteriorates over next week. Thank you all for your heartfelt messages of love, support and prayers  to date, beautiful Kiki has needed it and still does. Niah & Duncan.

When I chatted with Duncan at the Mater this afternoon, he said that she was soon to be moved to the general ward, so while not out of the woods, it was a good sign that she had stabilised.

So please continue to pray for this little girl, asking that the Lord in his grace bring her to full restoration.

And something else for prayer

Last year we met John & Gillian McCartney, on furlough here from their mission in Lesotho. Remember how they brought two little adopted children with them? Their little daughter, Lexie, has an auto immune condition. John & Gillian, back in Lesotho, write:

Since October 2008 she has been treated through a Hospital in Bloemfontein, South Africa and is on fairly heavy medication.  The way this medicine works is to suppress her immune system but eventually she should go into remission and she will be able to stop taking all these drugs.

About a week ago she caught a virus and normally a healthy 7 year old would recover from this in 7-10 days.  However in Lexie's case, because her immune system has been suppressed, she does not have a lot in her to fight the virus and is really suffering.

As I write this it's 11pm at night and we think Lexie might be experiencing a life threatening condition.  We cannot take her through to the hospital in Bloemfontein until tomorrow morning as the all the border gates except for Maseru Bridge close at night.  It would be a 5 hour trip if we had to go that way. Please pray for us all tonight as we are really in the Lords hands.  We will update everyone sometime over the next couple of days.

And finally...

What a privilege it was to meet for breakfast at RCRC this morning. To see how the Lord has blessed us in the last year, to hear how he's drawing people to himself through missional community outreach, to be blessed by the hospitality of Dwayne & Pauline's small group - it was just brilliant!

I count it a distinct honour to be part of such a community. My challenge to the people gathered this morning was to seek God's guidance on becoming an expression of hope in Redlands. Let's genuinely and consistently ask him to direct our plans, our future, and our own personal levels of commitment so that Jesus might be made known in Redlands.

Shalom - and see you in the morning...
