Exodus: A River of Blood

 

Over the next few weeks, in our evening services, we will be picking up the Exodus story again. We finished with the prologue to the plagues where Pharaoh turns his back on Moses and Aaron. It was the culmination to his earlier words, ‘Who is the Lord, that I should obey him?’ (5:2) Now God begins to reveal himself to Pharaoh, demonstrating his power over all things. It begins tonight with the first ‘plague’ where the water turns to blood. Why start with this plague? The Nile was such an important part of the life of Egypt that God is making a statement through this ‘miraculous sign and wonder.’ Join us as we look into this confrontation between Pharaoh, who thought himself god, and the Lord of the universe.
