When hardship strikes some people will try and bring comfort with the saying, If you have your health, you have everything’. The idea is that you can cope with things that annoy, some economic hardship and some inconveniences as long as you are healthy. People might have been encouraging Pharaoh that way but the next plague hits Pharaoh, and the Egyptians, personally. Now their health is impacted. The gods they worshipped for health and protection are impotent against the God of the Hebrews. So how does Pharaoh respond now his health is impacted. ‘He would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses’. What’s going on here? How are we supposed to respond to this? Here is another plague to wrestle with.
