We are continuing our series in Exodus, looking at the third plague- of gnats. Each of the plagues is designed to build upon the next and to lead to the ultimate redemption of Israel. When they are redeemed, they’ll go to Sinai to worship the Lord, and eventually they will head for the Promised Land. The lessons grow each time too. The Lord is not merely God over the waters, but he is God over the land too. He is the Lord over one thing and not another. He isn’t just God over one group of people and not another. He is not just a God over one location, but all places. He is absolutely sovereign over all things, including Set, the god of the desert, and Chemi, the god of the fertile soil. He is still the sovereign Lord today and sometimes we need to be itchy to turn to him. What more can we learn from the plague of gnats.
