When we were last in Romans, in chapter 8, we heard that we were utterly safe in God. Those whom He has begun to save, He will glorify. Nothing can separate us from His love. However, that raises a question, what about Israel? Didn’t God choose them? Didn’t He adopt them as His children? And yet, many of them have rejected Jesus, they are not saved, does that mean God has somehow failed? Or that we can’t be quite so certain? To answer these questions, Paul will write some of the hardest truths in all of the Bible. As we consider them, we will need to be careful and be honest about our own limitations. In the end however, we should stand amazed at our God and assured of His care.
