In the midst of despair and misery Micah brings a message of hope to the people. They will be rescued and redeemed. How? As Matthew understood it, Micah had prophesised that the Messiah, the delivering king, would be born in Bethlehem. The hope of Israel would be fulfilled in the birth of a child in Bethlehem. the promises of Micah took 700 years to arrive. It was so long a time that hardly anyone was ready when it did come. God still speaks through the Bethlehem story. Are you listening?
