Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking at the concept of growing and going. We tackled themes such as the heart, personality and fear of growing and going. This morning we’re going to look at the cost of church growth. Let’s be honest with each other and acknowledge that this church cannot and will not grow without some cost on your behalf and some cost on mine. What might that cost look like, and are we willing to pay the cost? The text this morning focuses on the 12 spies Moses has sent into the Promised Land. He sent them to do what spies to best and bring back a report. 10 of the 12 were excited by the potential of the land, but weren’t willing to pay the cost of entering. Caleb and Joshua, while not ignoring the problems, looked beyond them to the solution by stating ‘The Lord is with us’. How do we tackle the cost of growing and going?
