As the Israelites continue their journey through the wilderness for the first time they come to a place where they have to fight. How will they do that with no standing army? But this is not a fight they need to do on their own. The Lord is with them, and that is seen in the strange illustration of Moses needing to keep his hands held up in prayer. What does this mean? How does that help us in our daily battles? The account has much to say about work and pray being central to our life’s journey, but also a reminder that the ultimate battle has already been won.
