As Jim mentioned last week, these are the sorts of verses that we are tempted to skip over. After all, we don’t know these people. We don’t need to greet Priscilla nor do the greetings of Timothy mean a whole lot to us. It almost seems like we have picked up someone else’s postcard and we are now reading the benign holiday updates. Yet, God intended this to be in His word. This is just as much ‘God breathed’ as the previous 15 chapters. In these verses we see played out before us the wonderful benefit of belonging to the community of God’s people. More than that, Paul shows us here what actually makes life glorious and good, and to a large degree it’s rather mundane.
