‘The Lord is in his holy temple’. This is the deeper reality to a life and world that seems so unfair. It is a picture that God is sovereign, that he is in control no matter how dark things seem to be. It is a picture of imminent judgement. There is a great day of final judgement, so never assume that God is powerless or inattentive. Habakkuk warns that God judges the wicked even as they seem to prosper. For the nation of Israel this was a reminder of the sovereignty of God. It causes us to stop and think of all that we have received in Christ. We have a life that is full and eternally secure. You have a fellowship with Christian friends. You have the knowledge that you are secure in God’s love. The challenge to us is which god sits on the throne of our lives?
