[Reading: Mark 12:28-34]
In our journey through Mark’s gospel we have come to a passage we know so well. Because it is so familiar it’s lost the revolutionary impact it would have had on the Teacher of the Law, the disciples and others listening in. In Jesus’ response there is a little word repeated four times that brings the impact of Jesus’ response. It is the word ‘all’. We are told to put all our effort into loving God. It is our primary responsibility as those graciously redeemed by Jesus Christ. So what does it mean to love God like this? A lot of it has to do with the second part about loving our neighbour. We will try to ask and answer the why of this today.
