We are opening up the building blocks that take us on the path toward wholeness, as was introduced to last week by Johann Eloff. This morning we are looking at sleep and its important place in developing holiness. We don’t often think of sleep this way but the Bible has quite a bit to say on the topic. We all know that sleep is never more appreciated than when it eludes us and it is not something we can store up for later. We can also cheat on sleep for a while but eventually sleep catches up with us. The person who trusts in God needs to see sleep as a gift from Him. The Psalmist sums it up well saying, “for He grants sleep to those he loves.’ (Psalm 127:2). Sleep is a daily gift we receive from God. So how should we approach the concept of sleep and using that to honour God?
